During our first winter in Florida with the RV, we stayed at Gulf Waters RV Resort in Fort Myers for a couple of stays. While most of their sites are rented for seasonally, we got lucky and found openings. The resort’s website didn't have many pictures of the resort nor amenities so it was hard to know what to expect, but after watching a short YouTube video, we were pretty sure it would meet our expectations.
The beautifully landscaped gated entrance set the tone as we entered the resort. Lush, mature trees and plants adorned the surroundings, and the spacious, paved sites impressed us. The large resort was perfect for our morning jogs and peaceful evening walks. Despite the pool area looking a bit dated compared to the rest of the resort, it served its purpose for us when we wanted to enjoy a relaxing afternoon in the sun. However, most of the time we found ourselves at Fort Myers Beach, a quick 4.5 miles away. Although that's if you can beat the bridge traffic! We visited many local spots, including the Lani Kai, The Cottage/Shuckers, Bayfront Bistro, and Doc Ford’s.
We were very saddened to witness the destruction caused by hurricane Ian. We heard about the resort suffering from some water damage, but we are relieved to hear that it is up and running again. While spending time near Sarasota has worked out better for us, we genuinely loved our time at Gulf Waters and are hopeful to see the area fully recover.
