This Thanksgiving, we spent the week at Bluewater Key RV Resort. We had heard great things about this resort, and it seemed like the perfect place to stay in the Keys.
Upon our arrival on Sunday, we pulled up to the check-in office. My husband quickly completed the check-in process, and before we knew it, a gentleman on a golf cart was guiding us through the gate to our site. While I'm usually my husband’s parking guide, I was grateful that they assisted us because the layout of the site made maneuvering into the parking space a little tricky. Well, maybe not for my husband, but tricky for me! I prefer leaving it to the experts!
Upon check-in, the resort had given us a comprehensive welcome packet featuring local businesses, activities, and phone numbers – a thoughtful touch we haven’t seen at most resorts.
Our site was incredibly private, nestled against a canal. The large tiki hut/cabana was better than the photos. It was complete with an outdoor living room, kitchen, and TV. Additionally, there was an outdoor shower for a quick rinse, a small dock along the canal, and several lounge chairs. The setup was perfect as we were hosting family, allowing us to take full advantage of the extra living space. We did encounter a minor issue with the outdoor kitchen sink, but the resort staff promptly responded and fixed the problem.
The resort boasted a small, well-maintained pool area, which surprisingly didn’t get too crowded. There was also a clubhouse with space for hanging out, multiple bathrooms/showers, and a large laundry facility. Although I didn't see a gym, we enjoyed walks around the resort – one loop was about a half-mile. Additionally, they offered water aerobics at the pool.
The area surrounding the resort is relatively quiet, and although there are some businesses and eateries nearby, we chose to drive into Key West frequently for dining. This this took about 20-30 minutes depending on the location. However, we did enjoy coffee and grab-and-go breakfast items from Baby’s Coffee, which was just a half-mile from the resort.
Reflecting on our stay, we're uncertain if we need more than a few days in the Keys, but Bluewater Key RV Resort will undoubtedly remain high on our list as a place to stay.
