The Hilton Head area offers a few upscale RV resorts, and we've heard great things about all of them. On our way home from Florida last year, we decided to stay off the island at the Hilton Head National RV Resort while we spent Easter with family. The resort's website had directions for getting into the resort, including which roads to avoid, which was very helpful!
The entrance guided us through a winding road, surrounded by beautiful green landscapes. A seamless check-in process led us to our designated site, strategically placed across from the resort-style pool and clubhouse. While the site’s landscaping was minimal, it was equipped with a dining table and fire pit—a welcome addition because we left our Solo stove at home and ended up with some chilly April days!
Hilton Head National Resort (HHN) is cleverly divided into two sections: one catering to families and the other designed for adults seeking a more tranquil environment. Normally, we'd opt for the adult section, but since we planned a visit with our nieces, the proximity to the main pool in the family-oriented area seemed ideal. The adult section, on the other hand, promises a serene escape with its quieter pool and clubhouse.
Despite the typical rainy spring weather, we enjoyed one gorgeous, hot day filled with sunshine at the resort-style pool with our family. We made sure to arrive early so we could claim a few lounge chairs next to the shaded cabana we decided to rent. The cabana was the perfect reprieve from the sun for our parents, and it even came with a TV. We also enjoyed a pool-side lunch at the on-site restaurant and experienced excellent beverage service from our pool server throughout the day. She was taking care of the entire pool area, and boy did she hustle! Her husband also worked there, and he was very helpful and accommodating as well.
Though we spent a lot of time outside of the resort with our family, we took note of the cute retail store within the clubhouse, the luxurious, marbled-tiled pool bathrooms, a dog wash, a fitness center, an arcade, and golf course. The resort offers so many amenities that you really don't need to leave!
However, for those eager to explore, the Bluffton area beckons with its rich history. Many of the quaint restaurants and shops are housed in historic homes and buildings. We highly recommend checking out Burnt Church Distillery for a craft cocktail! Additionally, it's easy to travel to and from Hilton Head Island if you're craving some beach time. Hilton Head has beautiful, wide beaches that are great for walking, biking, and sunbathing. This is the perfect RV resort if you want easy access to the island but prefer not to stay on it!
