10 Questions to Ask when Booking an RV Park Reservation

Chad and I will soon be making our trek down to Florida with the RV. We usually give ourselves 3 days to get to our destination and spend 2 nights at RV parks along the way. With shorter days, we try to time up our hours of driving so we don't arrive anywhere in the dark. It makes it tough for us and many parks don't allow it. As we booked these reservations this year, it got me thinking of some of the important questions to ask when making reservations. These are not all of the questions you can ask and these may not be relevant to everyone, but some are pretty basic and good to consider!

  1. Are the sites full hook up? (Does the site offer water, electricity, and sewage hook up?) I think it's safe to say that most campgrounds will offer at least one of these. If it doesn't offer any of these then you are essentially boondocking or dry camping and that usually happens if you're staying outside of a campground.

  2. Are the sites 30 or 50 amp service? Know what your RV requires

  3. What is the size of the site? Make sure the site size is appropriate length and width for your recreational vehicle. Plus extra space for outdoor dining/sitting and a tow vehicle if needed.

  4. Are the sites dirt, gravel, pavement or concrete? It may or may not matter to you. For our big rig we prefer pavement or concrete sites....one's we can't sink into when it rains!

  5. Are the sites pull through or back in?

  6. What amenities does the campground or resort offer? (bathrooms and laundry are a couple basic ones)

  7. Do you have to arrive by a specific time? Can you arrive after dark?

  8. If you arrive before check-in or after hours is there a parking lot to wait in?

  9. Are there any important directions in regards to accessing the resort entrance with your RV?

  10. If you have a tow vehicle can you unhook at your site? If not, where? Or if you have a trailer is there a place to park it?
